Heavy Duty Paper Shredders
Heavy duty paper shredders are ideal when you need that extra bit of document shredding performance in the office, but don't have the requirement or space to go for a full-on industrial shredding unit. Also referred to as departmental shredders, heavy duty paper shredders are driven by a one or two horsepower motor, and can handle multiple sheets and documents in an adjustable feed tray. Typically, up to 50 sheets of paper can be shredded in one pass.
Modern day heavy duty paper shredders are quiet standalone units. They can be enclosed in cabinet furniture to match office décor, and require only a small floor area on which to stand. Features that you might expect to find on heavy duty paper shredders include an automatic start/stop function, large adjustable feed opening, wide choice of shred widths, 'bag full' indicator and an automatic reverse function in case of overfeed or paper jams.
Give yourself an advantage!
Heavy duty paper shredders have several advantages over the smaller office paper shredders and lightweight personal shredders.
- High Volume - Heavy duty paper shredders outperform standard office paper shredders when handling volume. Heavy duty paper shredding machines typically process double the amount of sheets and documents in one pass, than most standard office shredding machines are capable of.
- Speed - Heavy duty paper shredders are driven by a more powerful motor than found in standard office paper shredders. This translates into quicker shredding time for a single document. Standard A4 documents can be shredded in as little as 5-seconds, while most heavy duty machines can shred continuous reams of paper, such as EDP printer paper, at a rate of 20ft per minute or more.
- Robust Design - Hardened steel cutting blades are a standard feature on all heavy duty shredders, and is one of the reasons why paper shredders are classed as heavy duty in the first place. This means that the shredder will not be damaged by paperclips and staples, so saving you time and a lot of potential frustration in having to remove these items from documents before they go into the machine. The hardened blades also widen the range of applications that the heavy duty shredder can be used for. This might include the destruction of credit cards, CDs or lightweight cardboard boxes.
- Large Shred Bin - Shred bins on heavy duty paper shredders offer a larger collection area, minimizing the amount of times that the shred bin has to be emptied. Additionally, many heavy duty machines come with a compression pedal as standard, so allowing you to squeeze that extra bit of room out of the shred bin.
- Full range of Security Options - DIN Security levels 1 through 5 are available on most heavy duty shredders, giving you freedom of choice to find the right heavy duty shredder to meet your security requirements.
